Punt is what is usually tasted and drunk by the Maestros themselves and is called "Raicilla High Proof". La Venenosa Punta is special a valued and rare distillate, only slightly more than 100 liters are produced annually. In this case, "Puntas" refers to the upper parts of the agave cores (pinas) and the part of the distillate that comes out during the first distillation. This raisin is as much as 63% strength!, but it is elegant, delicate and incredibly complex in taste. It is easy and pleasant to drink, very bright in the whole flavor spectrum: stones, desert herbs and a lot of fruit.
It is made from Maximiliana agaves that have ripened in the highlands for at least 9 years. These high-altitude agaves produce a high sugar content and a unique taste. The agaves are roasted for 3-4 days in an adobe-type oven with black oak wood, then crushed by hand with wooden mallets and fermented in oak vats with wild yeast. For the double distillation, Gerardo chooses stainless steel stills, which he believes gives it a bit of a steely oxidized character.
Aroma: Kiwis, grapes, apples, strawberries, pineapples, pears with sweet floral and herbal nuances.
Palate: All that was smelled, very fruity, little smoke, burnt caramel, buttery citrus cream.
