The traditional agave distillate of the Huichol (Wixarika) nation, or rather one tribe that is very closed and independent, living in the northwest of the state of Jalisco. Tutsi is only used during ceremonies, rituals and celebrations. For Huíčioli, Tutsi is not only a drink, but also an expression of life. This completely wild distillate has special spiritual and cultural significance.
Maestro Don Rafael is the last Wixarika distiller to carry on the centuries-old tradition. Ripe wild Masparillo agaves are roasted in clay ovens using black oak and pine wood. Roasted agaves are crushed by hand with wooden mallets and fermented in rock pits with wild yeast. Tutsi is distilled once in the Huichol style - in a hollowed-out tree trunk. This special elixir was distilled in 2016 and rested for two years before bottling.

Aroma: pine, citrus, spice, pepper and a little smoked cheddar.
Taste: citrus notes, fresh pine sap, soy, fried fish, pepper, smoke.
Aftertaste: long, dry, slightly smoky, peppery with lots of pine.
Both smell and taste have different positions, sometimes very strange, uncivilized, but very tempting.

Tutsi is a rare collector's distillate based on 500-year-old distillation and production methods, with only two or three 45-liter batches produced each year.
