This authentic mezcal is made from 100% blue agave, commonly used in the production of tequila, in the village of Huitzila, right in front of the majestic canyon that separates the state from the Tequila Valley. Being so close, Zacatecas is mostly known for mezcal, made in the tequila style. But Bañuela's family is one of the few in the state to make traditional mezcal, offering a rare opportunity to travel back in time and experience an older expression of blue agave. A real herbal and smoky treat.

The agaves are roasted in stone-lined earthen pits using black oak, crushed with a stone roller (tahona) and naturally fermented in steel tanks with wild yeast. Mescal is double distilled in copper stills. Before the final bottling, the mezcal is poured into large glass bottles to rest for 60 days.

Aromas: delicate smoke, lots of agave notes, citrus peels, light peppery spices, fresh field grasses.
Taste: roasted agave, subtle smokiness, sea salt, lime peel, candied orange, heat of savory spices and pepper, field herbs, wood.
Aftertaste: mild heat with a burst of pepper, an atom of fresh menthol alternating with sweet smoke.

We recommend it for light and pleasant sipping.

The respected owners of 'La Venenosa' and 'Don Fulano', E. Morales and S. Mendoza, decided to showcase the incredible biodiversity of the Mexican land in the form of Mezcal, and thus Mezcal Derrumbes was born, with only small village distillers from different states in its range. So we invite you to sip, close your eyes and go on a journey through Mexico: Oaxaca, San Luis Potosi, Durango, Zacatecas and Michoacan.
